Parents/Students Schedule Changes In BHS's constant pursuit for academic excellence, we are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to provide two new members to our Buford High School faculty to help with our increased enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year. The addition of these faculty members will drastically decrease class sizes in several areas. Students will receive new schedules during an advisement session before first period on Thursday, August 26th. Due to the re-scheduling, teachers will be re-entering grades. Therefore, PowerSchool will not be available until August 31st. We appreciate your patience and support as we all seek the best for our students.

Congratulations to Buford High School for making Newsweek’s America’s Best High Schools list. Newsweek picks the best high schools in the country based on how hard school staffs work to challenge students with advanced placement college-level courses and tests. Just over 1600 schools were chosen and only six percent of all the public schools in the US, including Buford made the list for the first time in Buford High School’s history. |

A Simpler FAFSA is now available online!
The Department of Education recently released a new, streamlined FAFSA. The simplified form reduces the amount of time it takes to apply for federal financial aid from close to two hours to around 20 minutes.

New Features:
- Fewer Questions. "Enhanced skip logic" lets students skip questions that don't apply.
- Friendlier Navigation. Student and parent sections are marked and color-coded, and screens include an easy-to-find "help and hints" section.
BHS Parents: 2010 - 2011 Schedule Information
We have mailed home a list of recommended core courses, along with student selected electives for all students.
If you or your student would like to make any changes to these courses, please return the letter with the changes noted as soon as possible.
We are in the process of scheduling classes for next year, and the earlier we have the changes, the more likely we will be able to accommodate the requests for your student.
