Buford High School Implements Learning Focused Schools

In an effort to 'raise the bar', which has been raised for the past few years nationally, Buford High School is taking steps to actually increase student achievement through a school wide focus on priorities. We have 'adapted' Max Thompson's Learning Focused Schools information to fit with the Buford High School's vision "Committed to a Tradition of Excellence".

We are attempting to become an Exemplary School, one which is defined as having 90% or more of its students on or above grade level. Specifically, we are working toward increasing the number of students performing in the Pass Plus category of the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT). We are striving to decrease the gap in the disaggregated test score data for our lowest achieving students. Additionally, we are working towards increasing the average SAT score to match or exceed the national average.

Below is a small sample of the pictures taken throughout the school demonstrating the efforts made by both the teachers and the students to successfully implement Learning Focused Schools, a shift from teaching to learning. Stop back often as you will see new and exciting samples of student work and displays throughout the course of the year.
