The Tradition Continues!

Congratulations to the BMS Symphonic Band for receiving all 'Superior' ratings both on stage and in sight-reading at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation on March 25, 2008

The Symphonic Band also received all 'Superior' ratings at the Carowinds Music festival in Charlotte, NC on April 19th.

Buddy Pictures

Buddy pictures will be taken on May 1, 2008.

Library Books

All library books are due by Friday, May 2, 2008. Students with overdue books or unpaid fines will not be able to participate in Field Day activiites. Please see Mrs. Nabors if you have any concerns.

Hispanic Night, May 9

On May 9th, we will be having our annual end of year Hispanic Family Night. We will be recognizing Hispanic students who have worked very hard all year long and have exemplary behavior.

Zoo Atlanta

7th Grade field trip to Zoo Atlanta and the Atlanta Cyclorama on May 15, 2008. More information will be forthcoming.

BMS Physicals

Buford Middle School will be offering sports physicals to rising 6th - 8th grades on May 15 @ 6:00 pm in the BMS Gym. Parents must have the parent section of the school physical form completed before attending. The fee for the physical is $10.

Field Day, May 16

Field Day will take place on May 16th. It's a day filled with fun and events for the entire school. A lot of the activities will be outside, so students need to bring sunscreen, a hat, and/or sunglasses. Students should be in school dress code attire and should dress appropriately for outdoor activities. For more information on Field Day events, please click here.

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 - 8:00 - 10:00 Rehearsal for Promotion Ceremony at Daisy Shadburn FAC.

Friday, May 23, 2008 - Promotion Ceremony at 10:00 at Daisy Shadburn FAC.

Lunch Charges

All lunch charges must be paid before students will be allowed to participate in Field Day. No student will receive a final report card, or be allowed to participate in the end of year events unless all charges are paid. If you are unsure if your student owes a fee, please visit the parent section of PowerSchool or call 770-904-3690.

BHS Athletics 2008 Summer Youth Camps

Buford High School Athletics 2008 Summer Youth Camps Brochures with applicatons are available at the main offices of all Buford City Schools. They can also be downloaded at www.bufordwolves.com. All camps are conducted at Buford High School's facilities except where noted. The summer camps are administered and coached by the varsity coaching staffs of Buford High School.

Car Rider Pick-Up

Parents please be sure to pick up your student(s) by 3:00 each afternoon. Any students not picked up by 3:00 will be sent to 'Wolf Pack' and there is a charge for this service. Thanks!

Dress Code Policy

The BMS dress code may vary from other schools in the system so please review the new standardized dress code policy for the 2008-2009 school year by clicking here. Please remember: Only students who have been at school all week with NO checkouts or tardies and have had no dress code infractions are allowed to wear spirit wear on Fridays. The dress code will be strictly enforced.

W.O.L.F.P.A.C.K. Wednesday

Wolfpack Wednesday is an advisor/advisee program that pairs one caring adult with a small group of students. The acronym stands for Work, Optimism, Learning, Friendship, Pride, Attitude, Compassion, & Knowledge. During Wolfpack Wednesdays, teachers will assist students in monitoring their own academic progress, modeling good communication skills and they will encourage academic, personal and social development.

Emergency Closing of Schools

Early morning weather conditions created by floods, severe ice, snowstorms, or other weather related emergencies sometimes make it necessary to close schools. The district has a plan for the emergency closings, delayed openings, and early closings if deemed necessary by emergencies or severe weather conditions. The following radio/TV stations will carry this information:

The superintendent will make the final decision for school closings. The decision will be made by 6:00 am if at all possible.
