"It has taken me years to learn how to paint, but it has taken me a lifetime to paint like a child." -Picasso

As stated in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for Visual Arts Education, art is an important means of self expression and builds opportunities for children to develop innate sensibilities and important mental constructs. I wish to guide the development of your student's technical abilities and higher-order thinking skills in a way that is fun and creative.
My goal is for your student to understand that:
- Imagination is important and flexibility of thought is critical
- There may be more than one answer to a question and more than one
solution to a problem; answers to a question need not be identical
- Intrinsic satisfaction matters and personal success stems from the care
invested in one's own work and the ability to work cooperatively with others.
