BHS Student Career and Technical organizations volunteer at Operation Christmas Child

BHS’ DECA and Key Club took 50 students and chaperones on Wednesday evening, and on Thursday, BHS’ Key club, FBLA, HOSA, and FCCLA took 100 students and chaperones to the Atlanta Operation Christmas Child Warehouse.  Over the two days, the groups’ efforts combined with others from across the southeast to send over 100,000 boxes to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali, both countries in Africa, for needy children.

Gabby T., a junior at Buford High School, said, “I am exhausted from our shift, but it feels good to help give someone across the world a Christmas present.”

Key Club sponsor Amy Wright mentioned, “This gives students the opportunity to make a difference much bigger than themselves or even the community.  One shoebox can make a major difference in someone’s life”

Deca sponsor Jordan Simmons noted, “It brings me so much joy to not only help others around the world, but to do it with my students makes it even more special. I’m so proud of them for volunteering their time and caring about others.”

Buford City Schools is proud of the giving spirit of students in DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, HOSA, and Key Club.  These students are wonderful examples of servant leadership.  #BCSBuildingCommunityServingStudents
