Kindergarten Information
Children need healthy meals to learn. Buford City Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $2.00; lunch costs $3.00 at Buford Elementary School, Buford Academy, and Buford Senior Academy; $3.15 at Buford Middle School, and $3.25 at Buford High School. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. Reduced price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. Below are some common questions and answers to help you with the application process.
WHO CAN GET FREE OR REDUCED-PRICE MEALS?
- All children in households receiving benefits from Georgia SNAP or TANF, are eligible for free meals.
- Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals.
- Children participating in their school’s Head Start program are eligible for free meals.
- Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free meals.
- Children may receive free or reduced-price meals if your household’s income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Your children may qualify for free or reduced-price meals if your household income falls at or below the limits on this chart.

DO I NEED TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION FOR EACH CHILD?
No. Use one Free and Reduced-Price School Meals Application for all students in your household. We cannot approve an application that is not complete, so be sure to fill out all required information. Return the completed application to: Megan Gower, 2625 Sawnee Avenue, or [email protected].
HOW DO I FILL OUT AN APPLICATION FOR MY CHILD/CHILDREN?
Request a free and reduced paper application from your child's front office at their school. You can also apply online. Online applications are processed faster, and students receive their benefits quickly. CLICK HERE for more information and the link to the online application.
DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN ALREADY ENROLLED IN BUFORD CITY SCHOOLS AND RECEIVING FREE OR REDUCED MEALS?
If your children receive free or reduced-price meals in Buford City Schools, your kindergartner may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals for the first 30 days of school while your child's application is processed. Please list the names of siblings currently receiving free or reduced-price meals and their student numbers below.
Remember to complete a new application every year (after July 18, 2025). One application per household, per school year.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY CHILD'S MEALS IF THEY DO NOT QUALIFY FOR FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEALS?
We accept cash and check payments at all of our schools. You can also make online payments through MyPaymetsPlus. You must create an account and link your student to the account with their student ID number and last name.
