Paid Parental Leave

Eligible State of Georgia employees may take up to 240 hours of paid parental leave per year to care for their children, which enhances work-life balance. The state law establishing PPL specifies only the following three qualifying events:

(a) birth of the employee’s child,

(b) placement of a minor child for adoption with the employee, and

(c) placement of a minor child for foster care with the employee.

To request Paid Parental Leave, please submit the PPL form to the HR Department at [email protected].

FMLA

The Family and Medical Leave Act entitles eligible employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. Eligible employees are entitled to 12 work weeks of leave in a 12-month period, or 26 work weeks of leave during a single 12-month period to care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness if the eligible employee is the servicemember’s spouse, son, daughter, parent, or next of kin (military caregiver leave).
