School Social Work
School social workers play a pivotal role in supporting student well-being and helping create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all. Some services provided by school social workers include:
- Offering Student/Family Support and Engagement
- Helping Find and/or Navigate Outside Resources
- Creating and/or Implementing Preventative Programs and District-Wide Initiatives
- Practicing Advocacy
- Performing Crisis Intervention
- Collaborating with School Staff and Outside Agencies
- Engaging In/Implementing Professional Development
- Supporting Homeless, Foster, Migrant, and At-Risk Students
- Providing Short-Term Counseling and Other Individualized Support As Needed
How to Access Services
If a student is in need of assistance, they may be referred to the school social worker via their school counselor or other school personnel. Parents and guardians can also reach out to the social worker directly. Confidentiality is a priority, and services are provided in a supportive and safe environment.
