Bert Garcia was hired as a School Resource Officer by the Buford City School Board in June of 2019 and is currently assigned to Buford High School.
 
Garcia’s law enforcement career began with the City of Miami Police Department in April of 2004. During his tenure with the City of Miami Police Department, Garcia worked as a uniform officer in the South, North and Central districts, was attached to the problem-solving team and also served as a field training officer.
 
In April of 2007, Garcia relocated to the state of Georgia where he was hired by the Gwinnett County Police Department. Officer Garcia graduated from the 71st Gwinnett County Police Academy in September of 2007. Garcia served as a patrol officer and field training officer in the North, Central and South precincts. He also served as the Community Relations Officer for the North Precinct.
 
In 2012 Garcia transferred to the Special Operations Unit where he spearheaded a county-wide program designed to curtail crime in multi-family dwellings. In July of 2017, Garcia was promoted to the rank of Corporal.
 
Officer Garcia is bilingual and a graduate of the Gwinnett Neighborhood Leadership Institute. He obtained a Culinary Degree from Johnson & Wales University. Georgia POST Council has awarded Officer Garcia with a Supervisory certificate. Garcia has logged over 2,400 hours of specialized training during his career.
 
Officer Garcia is certified by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) at the Advanced level.
