Ryan Borders Bio

Ryan Borders was hired as a School Resource Officer by the Buford City School Board in November of 2024. Officer Borders is currently assigned to the Buford Senior Academy.
 
Officer Borders’s law enforcement career began with the Georgia Tech Police Department in March of 2009. During his tenure with the Georgia Tech Police Department, Officer Borders worked Uniform Patrol where he was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant in 2012.
 
In February of 2015, Officer Borders was hired as a Patrol Officer with the Georgia Gwinnett College Police Department. While with the Georgia Gwinnett College Police Department, Officer Borders certified through the Georgia P.O.S.T. Council as a Field Training Officer, General Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Taser Instructor. In August of 2017, Officer Borders was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant where he conducted felony investigations for the Georgia Gwinnett College Police Department. In 2019, Borders was promoted to the rank of Professional Standards Lieutenant where he conducted Internal Affairs (IA) investigations and worked on State Certification through the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. During his tenure at the Georgia Gwinnett College Police Department, Borders served as one of the department’s primary training officers.
 
Officer Borders holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Kennesaw State University and a Master of Science in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University. Officer Borders has logged over 2,700 hours of specialized training during his career.
 
Officer Borders completed the Georgia Public Safety Training Center’s School Resource Officer 40-hour program in June of 2024.
