David Genaro Bio
David Genaro was hired as a School Resource Officer by the Buford City School Board in August of 2022. Officer Genaro is currently assigned to Buford Elementary School.
Officer Genaro’s law enforcement career began with the Gwinnett County Police Department in April of 2010. During his tenure with the Gwinnett County Police Department, Officer Genaro worked as a Uniform Officer at North Precinct in the Buford area. In 2015, Officer Genaro became a field training officer certified through Georgia P.O.S.T Council and assisted with training numerous officers during his time with the department. In 2016, Officer Genaro was selected as North Precinct’s Community Relations Officer where he assisted with crime analysis and acted as a liaison to the community.
In July of 2019, Officer Genaro was hired as a School Resource Officer by Gwinnett County Public Schools. Genaro was assigned to GIVE Center West which is one of two alternative schools in Gwinnett County. Genaro gained valuable experience working as an SRO in a challenging environment. Genaro was able to able to act as both a mentor and positive role model for the students at GIVE.
Officer Genaro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from Georgia Gwinnett College. In December of 2019, Genaro completed the Georgia Public Safety Training Center’s 40-hour Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Program. Officer Genaro has logged over 1,600 hours of specialized training in his career.
Officer Genaro is certified by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) at the Basic level.
