Larry Stone Bio
Larry Stone was hired as a School Resource Officer by the Buford City Schools Board of Education in July of 2024. Officer Stone is currently assigned to the Buford Academy.
Prior to being a Certified Georgia Law Enforcement Officer, Stone served in the United States Marine Corps for four years as a Military Police Officer. Stone began his law enforcement career with the Gwinnett County Police Department in July of 2002 and graduated from the 55th Academy. Stone served 19 years at the Gwinnett County Police Department where his assignments included Uniform Patrol, Crime Prevention, Training Academy, and the Technology & Research Unit. In February of 2021, Stone transferred to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office where he was assigned as the Technical Services Section Commander and the Professional Standards Section Commander.
Stone rose to the rank of Lieutenant at the Gwinnett County Police Department and was appointed to the rank of Major at the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office. He is a certified Field Training Officer (FTO), Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, TASER Instructor and holds his Advanced, Supervision, and Management Certifications from Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST). Stone also served as the Critical Incident Stress Management Team Leader and SWAT Support Team Leader at GCPD. SRO Stone has over 3,100 hours of specialized training hours.
SRO Stone will be attending the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) to be certified as a School Resource Officer in 2025.
